Differential Dissector for Endoscopy

(Total time = 0:42) Differential Dissection is a platform technology. Here a DD tip is deployed at the end of a 2-meter long, 3.2 mm diameter, flexible instrument that fits in the working channel of a Pentax flexible endoscope. See the videos below to see how well Differential Dissection works for endoscopic submucosal dissection!

Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection

(Total time = 1:42) The DD-Endo shown in the video above is used by Dr. Shai Friedland to perform an endoscopic submucosal dissection in a pig’s stomach (excised tissue). Because the DD-Endo automatically tracks along natural planes, very little guidance is needed – Dr. Friedland only pushes the DD tip back and forth to elevate a very large mucosal patch. Only very limited electrosurgery is used, making this a very safe procedure!

Submucosal Dissection of Esophagus

(Total time = 0:59) A rigid-shaft Differential Dissector is used to rapidly tunnel through the submucosa of a pig’s esophagus (excised tissue, benchtop).

Submucosal Dissection of Stomach

(Total time = 1:51) This is a demonstration of Differential Dissection in the submucosa of the stomach of a pig (excised tissue, benchtop). This dissection is done with a rigid shaft (5 mm diameter) Differential Dissector for demonstration purposes. Because the DD follows this natural tissue plane so well, much of the dissection is done with the operator looking away from the dissection. A large mucosal flap is elevated preserving perforating blood vessels.
